Prof. Jie Xu and Prof. Fei Sun Visited College of Animal Science for Academic Exchange
At 15:00 p.m. on June 29th, Prof. Jie Xu and Prof. Fei Sun visited Animal Science Lecture of our College for academic exchange with our teachers and students. This academic exchange was hosted by Professor Zhang Shouquan from College of Animal Sciences.
Prof. Jie Xu gave an academic report entitled "Embracing gene editing nucleases for translational rabbit model development". Then Prof. Fei Sun gave an academic report entitled "Cystic fibrosis: from a single molecule to rabbit models".

Prof. Xu said that by using a microinjection technique and models of rabbit diseases such as cystic fibrosis, atherosclerosis, their team exacted recombinant humanized protein from transgenic rabbit to achieve the purpose of treating disease. Prof. Sun first introduced the pathogenesis of Cystic fibrosis and molecular and cellular mechanism such as membrane transport regulation of Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), CFTR phosphorylation and ubiquitination. Prof. Sun also mentioned that their team used rabbit to establish cystic fibrosis model of multiple mutations in the CFTR gene, and they are further exploring the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis to seek a new treatment method.

More importantly, rabbit disease models such as gene editing and transgenic technology were approved by two guests invited to the academic exchange activities. This academic exchange activity not only helps teachers and students of College of Animal Sciences understand the research progress of international related fields, but also develop their scientific ideas and academic vision.
